Kala Shreen is an award-winning anthropologist and filmmaker, and a Fellow at the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland. Her research focuses on Indian material culture, diaspora studies, immigrant religiosity, traditional artefacts, indigenous crafts, textiles and fashion. She has lectured at Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford and other prestigious universities. Kala has published with Berghahn Publishers and Bloomsbury Academic. She has held fellowships at Queen’s University Belfast and University of Toronto. She has co-directed the Cultural Dynamics and Emotions Network and was the Founder and Chairperson of Centre for Creativity, Heritage and Development. Her acclaimed films have been screened worldwide winning numerous awards.
